REDUCTION OF UTILITY COSTS
Large Plant Overview
An outside Electrical Sub-station is a subsidiary station of an electricity generation transmission and distribution system, where voltage (power) is transformed from high to low (or the reverse) using transformers
An inside load center takes voltage from the outside sub-station, and by utilizing associated equipment (control panels, primary switches, load current interrupters, buss duct) and via transformers, steps down voltage (power) for machines, pumps, equipment and lighting in a facility.
Inside
At the inside load center you will typically have several transformers (and associated equipment) feeding machines and equipment in the facility. For machinery that has been taken out of service or eliminated, the transformers (and associated equipment) are most likely still energized or powered and can be harvested to produce $’s (revenue stream) for the business/facility owner.
The eliminated transformer(s) and associated equipment will produce a one time pay-out by re-selling or scrapping the equipment, and a residual value by reducing the monthly electric utility bill (ongoing).
The other associated equipment including buss duct, switchgear and cable feeding the transformer would be re-sold or scrapped producing an additional one-time pay out. This associated equipment plays a part in reducing the monthly utility bill because they are de energized, but not as important as eliminating the transformer(s). Transformers are the vehicles that produce the KW demand, KW hours and transmission costs on your monthly utility bill. They are required to run your equipment, but when not used produce a paracedic load or core loss if the unit is energized, but not utilized to run machinery.
